Dylan Wilbur extended a streak of individual victories for Crescenta Valley CA at the Cool Breeze Invitational.

Claremont CA continued to build on a winning tradition at its own meet.

And Oak Park CA standout Sarah Shulze carried on in impressive fashion without senior teammate Sylvia Cruz-Albrecht to prevail in the marquee girls race Friday at Brookside Golf Course in Pasadena, Calif.

Shulze rallied past Serrano CA freshman Tiani Goeson to secure victory in the Sundown Showdown, covering the 3-mile course in 16 minutes, 32.2 seconds. Goeson, who led through 2 miles, took second in 16:39.6 and Chino Hills CA sophomore Jacqueline Duarte was third in 16:53.5.

Claremont won the Sundown Showdown girls team title for the third year in a row, placing all five scorers in the top 30 to produce a 75-103 victory over Division 2 rival Saugus. Goeson and ninth-place finisher Maribel Aguilar (17:10.3) helped Serrano place third with 140 points.

Sydney Hwang (16:55.8) secured fifth, Kalinda Reynolds (17:13.8) took 11th, Azalea Segura-Mora (17:17.8) placed 15th, Angie Gushue (17:20.6) finished 18th and Julia Marriott (17:52) was 30th for Claremont, which also had Maddie Coles win her freshman race in 17:05.6 earlier in the evening.

Following back-to-back victories from former teammate Colin FitzGerald, Wilbur earned another individual win for Crescenta Valley, with the junior clocking 14:26.7 to hold off Golden Valley CA senior Daniel Rush (14:27.7) and De La Salle CA senior Connor Livingston (14:28.1).

Wilbur’s performance, along with an eighth-place effort from Manan Vats (14:41.5), helped Crescenta Valley follow last year’s team title with a second-place showing with 167 points, ahead of Palos Verdes CA (184) and Saugus CA (191).

Claremont had all five scorers in the top 20 and won the boys Sundown Showdown team title for the second time in three years with 68 points.

Aaron Reyes (14:39.4) placed seventh, Ryan Cowgill (14:49) took 13th, Vicente Huerta (14:49.4) finished 14th, Jack Keough-Lansford (14:50.6) was 15th and Jacob Moran (14:55.1) captured 19th for Claremont.

La Quinta CA sophomore Raen Reyes won the boys varsity race in 15:12.3, with Bonita CA securing the team victory with 94 points.

Bonita also prevailed in the girls varsity race after surviving a sixth-runner tiebreaker with Hawaii Baptist Academy after both teams amassed 93 points. Emma Barragan finished 51st for Bonita, compared to Lindsey Jaeger placing 58th for Hawaii Baptist Academy.

Santa Fe CA senior Katie Bautista won the girls varsity race in 18:03.5, helping her team finish fifth.
